(3) Anyone Read Any Good Fiction (or Non) Lately?

Just wondering if anyone "out there" has read any good fiction. I just finished Richard Russo's Bridge of Sighs (he won the Pulitzer for Empire Falls and it was made into a TV movie). It's amazing how he can weave so much into a few hundred pages. The real town in upper state New York is apparently Gloversville, where there was a real problem with pollution in the 1990s, but has now been cleaned up. That's only a small part of the plot, though. The major interest is in the family relationships, both good and bad.

Did anyone read Junot Diaz's latest? The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao won the Pulitzer in 2008, but I think I prefer Russo's over Diaz's, although Diaz tells quite a story about the Dominican Republic's former dictator, Rafael Trujillo, and the effect it had on a family that immigrated to New Jersey.

How about:

The Book of Negroes (Lawrence Hill)
Then We Came To The End (Joshua Ferris)
Lisey's Story (Stephen King)
Water for Elephants (Sara Gruen)
The Book Thief (Markus Zusak)
Letter to a Christian Nation (Sam Harris)
The Speed of Light (Javier Cercas)
Double Whammy (Carl Hiaasen)
Lucky You (Carl Hiaasen)
Skin Tight (Carl Hiaasen)
The End of Ignorance (John Mighton)
How To Talk About Books You Haven't Read (Pierre Bayard)
Not By Fire, But By Ice (Robert Felix)

Any suggestions?
